Indoor projection works with far less power than outdoor, because it competes with far less light. A 40W unit that would disappear on a street frontage can be striking inside a showroom or lobby.

The most common uses are logo projection at reception, floor branding inside retail space, directional graphics, and ambience in restaurants and hotels. Because nothing is printed or fixed to the surface, the design can be changed for a promotion or season by swapping the gobo.

Two things decide whether an indoor projection looks good: the surface and the surrounding light. Matte walls and floors hold the image well. Highly reflective or very dark surfaces reduce it.
