Wedding monograms, event logos and sponsor branding in projected light. How to choose wattage, lens, surface and mounting position.

A gobo projector turns a wedding monogram, couple’s initials, event identity or sponsor logo into projected light. It can place artwork onto a dance floor, wall, ceiling, entrance or stage area without applying printed graphics to the projection surface.
For wedding planners, decorators, event agencies, venues and corporate production teams, the real question is not simply which projector is brightest. The result depends on the throw distance, projection size, ambient light, lens, surface and mounting position. This guide explains how to plan it correctly.
Project the couple’s initials, names, wedding monogram or motif onto the dance floor. This works particularly well when the mounting position allows the artwork to remain clear of guest traffic and the surface provides adequate contrast.
Use projected names, initials or a wedding motif at the guest arrival point. Depending on the venue, the artwork can be placed on the entrance floor, a nearby wall or another suitable architectural surface.
A carefully positioned projection can add a monogram or decorative motif without physically fixing graphics to the backdrop. Placement should be coordinated with stage lighting so the projection is not overwhelmed by brighter fixtures.
Plain banquet-hall surfaces can become part of the visual design through projected patterns, motifs or event graphics. Ceiling and high-wall projection should be planned around rigging access, throw distance and lens selection.
For atmosphere rather than logo projection, the RIPPLEX series creates moving water-style effects. It can be considered for lounges, arrival zones, poolside areas, corridors and other spaces where guests spend time.
The same projection technology can be used beyond weddings. Corporate production teams can use gobos for temporary visual branding where printed graphics are undesirable or need to change between sessions.
A professional event projection should be specified from the venue backwards. Start with the desired result, then choose the equipment.
Measure from the proposed projector position to the exact floor, wall or ceiling surface. This is the throw distance.

Do not use this table as a fixed wattage calculator. Image size, ambient light, surface and lens can change the requirement substantially.
A 1-metre monogram and a 3-metre monogram at the same throw are different optical requirements. Tell the supplier both the mounting distance and the approximate image size you want.
The lens matters. Wattage provides available light; the optical configuration and distance determine the projected image geometry and size. Selecting only by wattage can therefore produce the wrong result even when the projector is powerful enough.
Event lighting can change dramatically between setup and guest arrival. A projection that looks strong during a dark technical rehearsal may lose contrast when architectural lighting, stage lighting and decorative fixtures are operating.
Specify the projector for the conditions in which guests will actually see it.
Pale, matte surfaces generally provide stronger perceived contrast than very dark, glossy or mirrored finishes. Polished marble can create reflections, while a dark surface can make a projected image appear less prominent.
For important installations, photograph or test the actual venue surface before finalising the position.
A projector aimed sharply across a floor or wall can distort the artwork. Where possible, plan a mounting position that keeps the optical axis appropriate to the projection surface and keeps the projector clear of guest movement.

Use the current product specifications to confirm the exact wattage and IP rating available for each series. An indoor-rated model should not be installed in an exposed outdoor position.
The artwork is reproduced from a gobo, an optical element fitted inside a compatible projector.
For the cleanest production workflow, send the original logo or monogram artwork in a high-quality format, preferably vector artwork where available. Fine lines and very small details should be evaluated at the actual projected size.
For compatible replaceable-gobo systems, the same projector can be reused with different gobos. A wedding professional may therefore use one installation for different client monograms, while an event venue can prepare different artwork for weddings, conferences and corporate bookings.
This is one reason ownership can make commercial sense for businesses that operate projectors repeatedly rather than for a single event.
For a one-time requirement, hiring may be the practical option. For a wedding planner, event production company, decorator, banquet venue or hotel that can repeatedly sell projection as an add-on, ownership creates a reusable inventory asset.
The commercial calculation should include the projector, compatible optics, gobos, mounting requirements and expected utilisation rather than projector price alone.
